About the German-Korean Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The German-Korean Chamber of Commerce & Industry was built in May 1981 in Seoul. The KGCCI(=the German-Korean Chamber of Commerce & Industry) is located Han-nam dong, Yong-san gu, Seoul. The KGCCI is part of the worldwide German Chamber Network. Whether you need basic support in the Korean market or highly individualized special services, the KGCCI is your professional service provider.

The KGCCI was established to performance to promote bilateral trade and investments
between German and Korea, to improve the relationships between the German and Korean business communities, and to promote relationships among the members of the GKCCI.

The KGCCI offers 3 main services to members.
1. Intercultural Training
When a Korean company has trade relations with German company they need to understand culture of the other party. For that reason, the KGCCI has provided intercultural training for business and living in Korea and customized intercultural trainings of up to two days for groups.

2. Interpretation and Translation
The most important thing is language for international trade. Therefore, the KGCCI has helped bilateral trade between Korean and German. The KGCCI can translate business letters, presentations, brochures etc, and offer professional bilingual interpreters for every business occasion (Korean-German-English). In addition, the GKCCI has interpreter service for the duration of a business trip.

3. Refund of VAT
The KGCCI also provides service for Korean/German companies that spend money in Germany (e.g. purchase from German/Korean suppliers, business travel, trade fairs, conventions). The KGCCI is organization of entire refund process and liaison with the German tax authorities.


The KGCCI is the official and exclusive representative of Messe Berlin in Korea. Messe Berlin is a service company specializing in the organization of regional, national, and international trade shows, exhibitions, and conventions. With a program of nearly 80 international trade events taking place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds each year, Messe Berlin ranks as one of the world's top ten exhibition companies. The trade show and convention industry is a key economic factor in the Berlin-Brandenburg area. It attracts significant buying power and brings in additional tax revenues. Trade shows and conventions play an important part in Berlin's role as an international center of communications and commerce. Messe Berlin operates a 160,000 sqm. exhibition center.

On 20th May 2009, Mr. Jürgen Wöhler, Secretary General & Executive Director of KGCCI, had visited our class and had given some lectures and advices. He explained Korean economic data(facts and trends at a glance) and market profile(overview on topics like i.e. foreign trade, legal issues and foreign investment). He was the most active speaker ever. And he is humorous and outgoing. He took out our participation successfully. He gave some advices it's important to improve language skill and first work place would be our country. And then we can go abroad and work international enterprises. He had given courage us and said just feel free to apply. It was very good oportunity to meet Mr. Jürgen Wöhler, Secretary General & Executive Director of KGCCI. After his speech, we had a question period. When we asked things about KGCCI, he responded sincerely and gave us useful informations. By contrast, when someone asked a question beside the mark, he gave a repartee.

Before we took a class, maybe we haven't knew a lot of things about KGCCI. But again, it was a really useful experience to us. And it is very important not to be shy and to be full of confidence, when we get faced with every situations.

1. Our presentation is Korean-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry. We searched the internet homepage of KGCCI. So we know what is the KGCCI's works. They help Korean companies and German companies. They inform many German Companies about the Korean economics and help to meet Korean CEO and German CEO. They contribute a relation between Korea and German.

2. lecture: Mr. Juergen Woehler who is KGCCI's Secretary General give a lecture. He is so witty. His lecture was a speech stressing confidence, expression and thinking. I know that many students don't have expression of their thinking. He emphasized repeatedly expression of our thinking. So some students tried to do that. I think, his lecture was the best until now. Other lecturers spoke just their business. But he spoke not only his business also our attitude that we must have.
